About Clayton

A proud sixth-generation Texan, Clayton can trace his ancestor’s arrival to Texas back to 1854. It was then that the Watson family packed up their belongings in Georgia and headed west to the town of Honey Grove in northeast Texas in search of the one thing we all desire, greater freedom. An original land patent issued to E.W. Watson serves as a nostalgic reminder that back then Texas truly was frontier country.

One hundred and thirty-seven years later, Clayton grew up in Mansfield, Texas, where his family was involved in production agriculture from childhood through his mid-twenties. It was these formative years that impressed upon him the values of hard work and personal responsibility. During that time, he also attended Tarleton State University and received a Bachelors of Science in Agricultural Economics.

Upon graduation, Clayton started a small business, CW Cattle Company, where he was engaged in various channels of cattle and hay production, most notably including the sale and transport of large amounts of hay from out of state for drought-stricken ranchers throughout Texas during the summer of 2011.

In 2014, Clayton continued his education by enrolling in the Full-Time MBA Program at Texas A&M University. It was during this time that Clayton became heavily interested in all aspects of commercial real estate. Due to this interest, he also enrolled in the Master of Real Estate (LERE) Program and served as a student intern, with a focus on rural land sales research, for Dr. Charles Gilliland at the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University.

After graduating with both degrees in 2016, Clayton served in various roles in the commercial real estate industry, including valuation and lending.

In 2020, Clayton found the opportunity to return to Aggieland permanently. He now resides in Bryan and has become very active in the community. He serves as an Ambassador for the B/CS Chamber of Commerce and is a 2023 graduate of the Leadership Brazos program. In January 2024, Clayton was elected Vice-Chair of the City of Bryan Planning & Zoning Commission.

In 2023, Clayton returned to his entrepreneurial roots by founding AG3 Properties, a local real estate services company specializing in brokerage, leasing, property tax advisory, and real estate consulting services.
